Yes. Apparently Sammy has recently passed away. He seemed like a pleasant, humble man.
Years ago, I went to a '62 Mets autograph show. A good few of those men have since passed away. I don't think Sammy was among them; I've got to look back in my collection again, but I don't think his card is signed.

I was originally signed by the Washington Senators but would pass through two other organizations before I made my major league debut. All of my triples and most of my home runs came with the 1962 Mets. Who am I?

That's correct! Choo Choo experienced some odd twists in his career. Signed by the Senators in 1955, he'd spend 2 years at Orlando in the Florida State League. Released by the Senators, he was out of baseball in 1957. Then he was signed by the LA Dodgers and would spend 2 more years (1958 & 59) in Orlando.
Drafted by the Phillies in 1960, he'd finally make it to the majors for a brief stint with Philadelphia in 1961.
Picked up by the Mets in the expansion draft, Coleman would have his most productive year at the plate in 1962. He'd play the majority of his major league games in 1963. Then he'd spend the next few years with the Mets AAA affiliate but would be back for 6 last major league games in 1966.
I have no idea where Choo Choo was in 1967 & 1968 but in 1969 he'd play in 94 games for Tidewater at the ripe old age of 31, marking the end of his baseball odessy.

I played every position except pitcher and centerfield during my major league career that ended with another woeful franchise and a former team mate as my manager. Who am I?
