Vin Sculley was the Brooklyn Dodger announcer that I grew up with. I was to young when Red Barber was the #1 announcer.I have always loved hearing Sculley call a game. In recent years Sculley has become a booster of O'Malley's, and that bothers me. True O'Malley helped make Sculley a mega star and a wealthy man, but you would think he would remember how O'Malley screwed the fans.

To be fair to Vin, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I agree Jackie, just like the players, Sculley knows better then to criticize
O'Malley.

Scully owes the O'M family big time, they made him rich, and famous.

I have listened to Sculley do recent games and he always tells stories about Brooklyn and how great the fans were. Like Jackie said he isn't going to bite the hand that feeds him.

He loved Brooklyn, but he loves his job more.

The only thing I didn't like about Vin, was his stance on O'Malley. And you really couldn't blame Vin, O'Malley helped him become a famous and rich man.He was in the right place at the right time. I go to sleep every night listening to an old Brooklyn game, with either Vin or Red Barber broadcasting.

My personal rememberance of Red was as a Yankee announcer, but I do have my tapes when he was with Brooklyn.

The ticker tape reenactments were classics.

Are there any tapes of them?

In fact, yes, tapes of Al Helfer, Jerry Doggett and Vin Scully doing Schaefer commercials.
