Kramer, you sound like George Steinbrenner from a couple of years ago. The Rays proved that you can do it that way. The Twins are in the playoffs almost every year, and they are constantly loseing their top players. Small market teams have to do it that way, or they don't have a chance. The reality of todays baseball is that the large market teams buy their teams and small market teams have to continue to develop prospects every year.
Yes, it's almost to the point where the large market teams use the small market teams as their farm clubs.

It's true Tony these small market teams use the excuse that they don't make enough, but their owners are pocketing big bucks while claiming poverty, if it was so bad they would sell the team.

Certain teams have not used their revenue sharing proceeds to improve their teams, that is true. But this is the owners own plan and up to them to force the money pocketing owners to do the right thing.
The Yankees, Tigers and Diamondbacks have made a 3 way trade. They Yankees get Curtis Granderson. The Yankees lose Ian Kennedy, Phil Coke a couple of other minor leaguers and most importantly Austin Jackson their most prized prospect. The Tigers also give up Edwin Jackson and the Diamondbacks Max Scherzer and some other players.
The Cubs finally traded Milton Bradley, sending him to the Seattle Mariners for Carlos Silva and 6 million dollars. I don't understand why the Mariners had to send the money to the Cubs, since they took on Bradleys huge contract.
