Thank you Pete, I was in Brooklyn yesterday and we ate at the roast beef joint (Brennan and Carrs) down the street is one of the best kosher deli's oh what memories. There is no place like Brooklyn for the great deli's if you leave NYC it is hard to find a good deli.

As of January 25, Brooklyn now has a Montreal smoked meat establishment. It's called Mile End, and it's on Hoyt St. between Atlantic and Pacific (Boerum Hill).

My wife and I went yesterday, but alas they only have limited amounts each day and it was gone by the time we got there at 2:30.

For those of you who have not had this taste treat, it's kind of the missing link between corned beef and pastrami, but really it's a unique product.

I went there today (my wife actually beat me to it some days ago). For a $13 platter, you get enough meat to make three fat sandwiches or four pretty normal ones. That's good value, and the meat is quite good too. They're doing brisk business.

They don't have pickles yet, though, unimaginable for a Montreal Jewish deli. But they said they'd have 'em in another week or so, homemade. I guess it takes time.

Yes, sadly true free standing deli's are going the way of the Brooklyn Dodgers, extinct. Is Waldbaums Supermarkets still in business. They always had the best supermarket deli, in my opinion. I remember when you could only get Boars Head cold cuts in a deli, now Publix supermarket carries them.

Wauldbaums carries Thumanns cold cuts. I always go to King Kullen, they carry Boars Head up here. There are still lots of Deli's left in the area, and the sandwiches are still huge when you get em for lunch. New York is unique in that the climate socially prefers the real deli as opposed to getting cold cuts, and other specialty ethnic fare at a supermarket. In lots of other towns this may not be the case, but the Deli is still alive and well in NY.

I LOVE Brennan & Carrs! Every time Im near Nostrand I have to stop for 2 Roast Beefs with Cheese, and an order of Cheese Fries. You know its a good RB sandwich when you need a fork to eat it!

My mouth is watering again. We have one decent Kosher style Deli in the area, The Lucky Dill, and it is always packed.
