I have the same one, and it is a nice cap. My favorite Blue Jints cap is the Blue cap with the white NY with red trim. It was another 40's cap worn during the war.

Yes it was, they wore blue caps every year in the 40's until 1949 when they went to the current color scheme. During the War 42-45 they added a red outline to the white NY. The cap you have was worn before the war. IMHO the best Giants uniform was worn during the war years.

It was a blue cap, with white interlocking tiffany NY in the late 30's. In the mid 30's it was a black cap with the old style interlocking NY. The early to mid 30's were white caps (sometimes with pinstripes) with interlocking red or navy blue NY, and red or navy blue brims.

Thanks, didn't realize they had so many variations. The black and orange is what is embedded in my mind.

Its funny because today people hate the fact that their are so many uniforms, and uniform changes to drive uniform sales, while historically teams (with some few exceptions) changed uniform designs, and color schemes on a yearly basis. I guess they figured why not as they needed new threads every year regardless.

Most of the changes were very subtle and in some cases, I don't think the team meant for anything to change, it just happnend, especially if a team change manufacturers

Actually, the Giants' home uniforms were creme-colored "white".............still are.......

The Giants best jerseys were the blue and whites with the interlocking Tiffany NY. Most people have the misconception that the Jints wore Orange and Black always. They only wore that color scheme for their last few years (in the greatest city that even an idiot wouldn't move from). The Giants usually wore Blue as a predominant color. Of course I'm preaching to the choir here.

The Orange and Black started in 1949.

Didn't all teams wear cream (except Charley Finley's A's) rather than white at home before the double knit uniforms took over in the 70s?

The Brooklyn Dodgers wore Ivory Snow white home uniforms.
