Absolutely Tony they had their own home town heros, even though Mays was a great player they loved their own guys.

What a shame, as great as Mays was, his fame would have been even greater had he stayed in New York.

Maybe he should have come to the Mets in the early 1960's, but then we wouldn't have seen the great Agee catch but then again Mays would have made so many great catches at Shea.

Willie never looked as happy as when he played that one season with the Mets. He was long past prime, but he really seemed to enjoy being back in New York.

Yes he would have, I wonder if he would have been happy in NY with all the losing. Even though he only won 1 WS right in 1954 and none in SF they had some great teams in SF.

If the Mets had obtained Mays, perhaps they would have done some other things to speed the winning process up.
