name the player who got the first hit off Johnny Vander Meer after he threw his two no-noes against the Braves and Dodgers (speaking of a record that will never be matched).
hint: the player was a batting champion and played with one of the two teams Vander Meer no hit.

true, but let's do a little sidebar: the pitcher who came closest to matching Vander Meer? coincidently (or maybe ironically) in that instance, all three teams were the same. also, who was the batter who broke up the second no-hit bid, with a hit in the ninth inning.
finally, what was another unique aspect of one of Vander Meer's no hitters?

to the keyboards!
Ah, I do remember reading about this one. Knew the pitcher but had to go check for details. Answer: Enwell Blackwell of the Reds in 1947. On June 18th he no-hit the Braves, winning 6-0. His next start was on June 22nd against the Dodgers. He had a no-hitter going until Eddie Stankey got his hit in the bottom of the ninth. Reds won, 4-0.
Opps, almost forgot the second part of the test question. Vander Meer's second no-hitter was the first night game played at Ebbets. One thing that struck me about game was that Vander Meer walked 8 while striking out 7. He walked the bases full in the bottom of the ninth before getting Durocher to end the game on a pop-up.
