Does anyone have an old fashioned candy store where they live? I haven't seen one in a very long time.
There aren't any I know of out here in NJ but I bet there is one or two in Brooklyn.
I would guess Brooklyn may be the only place that still has some.
I'm going to Brooklyn tomorrow, I will look around and ask a few people at the VA hospital.
Thanks, I would be interested to know.
I didn't find any but I'm still looking and I will ask around, I know there were a few back in the 1990's.
In some areas of the country they were called lunceonettes, a counter with those round seats,a magazine rack, candy and baseball cards by the register, newspapers by the front door.
Only people from the NY area knows what a candystore really is. It is like mentioning watching "submarine races" to some hick they don't know what that is.
Was Murray The K the first one to use that term?.
I don't know we'll have to check that out, I know where you live there are alot of New Yorkers but try asking original Floridians if they know what "submarine races" are.

This is the time of year my friends and I use to get itchy knowing the beginning of spring training meant the season would start in 6 weeks, and what came with the start of the season the new Topps and Bowman cards. Usually the start of the season was about mid April so we knew that Topps first series would be out around then then we could get series 2 around early May and so on for the season. Of course I bought most of my cards at Fran and Izzy's, my grandpa bought me cards every night at the Ave U station of the BMT.

Yes i chewed the gum and also saved some, my cards also have that smell of gum on them. If you have any cards with wax stains on them you can get it off, I know they look like they are ruined, just take a woman's nylon stocking and rub gently and the wax will come off the card will look brand new.

What about the wax on the cards, I use to get the cards with wax on it much cheaper from most dealers because they didn't look good then go home rub it off with a nylon stocking and have a nice card.
