Did anyone manage to hit a homerun at the farthest point near the clubhouse in center? If so, that's quite a distance.

I remember Lou Brock hitting one out to centerfield against the Mets at the Polo Grounds, maybe someone else can remember someone hitting one against the Giants.

I have been looking at the Shea Stadium demolition photos over at BBF SITE. i am so happy that Shea is now gone. this makes up for the sad days in 1964 when the city tore down the Polo Grounds for that stadium.

What do you think of the new CitiField? I'll be visiting this summer.

In truth Donald the Polo Grounds was never supposed to be used by the Mets. Shea Stadium was delayed and the only option was The Polo Grounds. The agreement that allowed the National League back into NYC required the Mets to play in Queens. THe Mets had no decision in the demolishing of the Polo Grounds.

Too bad old Ebbets wasn't still standing in 1962 and 1963. I would have LOVED seeing the Mets in Flatbush! Hodges and Snider playing again at EF would have been breath-taking.

Thank you Robert. The only way you can get around this site more would be to retire!
