A couple of years ago Pabst enjoyed a retro-cool trend among the hipster types. You could buy a bucket of ice with a 12-pack in it at certain bars in Williamsburg and also on Atlantic Ave.
Still, whenever I hear the name Pabst brought up, I inevitably think of Dennis Hopper screaming about it in David Lynch's Blue Velvet.

The Pabst can itself is beautiful (just like Schlitz) -- they never changed the logo (unlike Rheingold). Pabst (as many, many other off-brands) has a bad after-taste nowadays.

These "nostaglia" beers are produced many times by companies like Miller Brewing (and others) as a shot at the market of folks like us....................the brew is NOT the same as the old days--just the name and the labels.

It is not unlike all these old rock bands touring around the world..........the names of the groups are purchased and non-original members sing the old tunes almost exactly as they were back in the day..............................it's all fake. My cousin (Robert Paparozzi) is currently touring with TWO "fake" bands: "Blues Brothers" and "Blood, Sweat and Tears".................Linda and I have seen the "Duprees" a few times--all new guys who bought the name..................
