In a radical shake-up of the Dodgers hierarchy, Walter O'Malley becomes majority owner when he buys out Branch Rickey.

That had to be one of the worst days in Dodgers history, I get sick thinking about that back stabbing lowlife.

Little did people know that, that day was the beginning of the end of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

I heard O'M had his eyes on moving as early as 1951.

I believe the fat slob had his eyes on moving that early too. However, I think he was planning on moving out of Ebbets Field, not all the way to Los Angeles! That came later.

O'Malley had no use for Ebbets as early as the late 40's, before he took over. THat may have been one of his motivations for over throwing Rickey. I don't think Rickey was eager to move out of Ebbets, which the Dodgers owned free and clear.

He was an early version of the owners today wanting a state of the art facility paid for by the taxpayer so he could make more money.
