I wonder if Groucho Marx ever went to Ebbets Field? He would have fit right in.

Ironically, it was Groucho who spearheaded the telethon in Los Angeles to get the referendum passed for Chavez Ravine to be "Dodgerland"................

He wasn't a big backer of the Dodgers moving. He was a big backer once they were already THERE and fighting for a new stadium.

The ironic thing was that almost all the Hollywood stars who appeared on the "telethon" couldn't vote on the issue because they lived outside the county.

It was a very close, vote, and this "telethon" was probably the deciding event.

If he didn't get it, O'Malley was set to return to Brooklyn.

He still had options in Brooklyn. By now (2010) the Bums would be out at the Cyclones' site.

You think they would have built a third Ebbets field in Coney Island, well the second field would have been older then Shea so yo probably are right.

That is something I can't understand Tony, why wouldn't O'M want to go back or stay in Brooklyn if he had a stadium in the right place meaning alot of parking and public transportation. Brooklyn was and is a much better baseball town then LA they come late leave early where we stayed and cheered the whole game.

Once he left, he wasn't coming back to Brooklyn.Something else would have been worked out in Southern Cal.
