I know there is more than only success involved. But the more success a team has, the more it is hated. Look at the Yankees, Real Madrid, Ajax Amsterdam, Bayern Muenich and Anderlecht (Belgium) in soccer. Those teams have won the most national titles and they are hated like no other.

I hated the Yankees because they won all the time. After I got older, I stopped hating them and established a grudgingly deep respect for what they've accomplished. Today, I hate NO team(s).

Pete we all mellow as we get older, I'm a Met fan but if they aren't in the playoffs I'll root for the Yankees I don't want to see some out of town team win unless it is Tampa Bay.

It's true, we mellow. It is difficult to hate a struggling team, but rather easy to build up a hatred for a team that wins constantly and seems arrogant doing same. This was the case of the Yankees and me while I was growing up.

For many of us, we were to young to know about hating other teams. Then our team left, and we were left with just being baseball fans. The Yankees were the closest I ever came to hating another team.

It's nearly impossible to hate the underdog. Like last season's Rays. Couldn't do much more than admire their pluck and hustle. Much easier to "hate" a swaggering, over-confident group.

Don't get wrong I didn't like the Yankees back then and I could never root for them in 1958, so I went to the Orioles in the American league because I liked their hat and they were in 7th place.

You know, baseball caps and uniforms always held a fascination for me (to this very day). Throughout the years, the Orioles, Cardinals, and a few other teams' uniforms and caps held my admiration. Like today, I can't stand the Arizona Diamondbacks because of their lousy uniforms and caps.

I am crazy about baseball jerseys and caps too. That is why I collect authentic caps.
Todays jersey of Arizona sucks. But I really liked their alternative black jersey they used to have two/three years ago.
There are some jerseys in MLB that are classics: Yankees, Mariners (okay, not really classics, but still darn good), Cards, Braves, Cubs and Red Sox.
I can't stand those teams that change their jersey about every five years.

It almost defies description. Strolling down the main drag in summertime is fantastic: shops all over the place, selling cool stuff, people wearing their uniform jerseys and caps......really cool.

Cooperstown is one of the nicest small towns in the USA, the HOF is great place too it would be alot greater if Gil was in. I've been there twice also but I may go back this year my wife and I will get in for free because I have a military ID card something they started doing in the last 5 years.
