I was looking to post these letters, thank you Jackie. The FDR letter to Landis was the famous "Green Light Letter" that gave FDR's blessing to continue playing baseball during the war.

After President Roosevelt died The Sporting News, put on a drive to get Roosevelt enshrined into The Hall Of Fame. Baseball said no.Who knows what would have happened if baseball was forced to shut down during the war?

From what I have read, baseball was the main form of recreation players and spectators alike and was taken very seriously.
