Great observations,Pete. Hodges wasn't the only Dodger that struggled in 1952. Snider, Reese and Shuba were the only Dodgers that hit. Other then Snider, virtually no power from the Dodgers at all. Many of the Yankees especially Mantle lefthanded stepped in the bucket. I still don't understand Dressen having Nelson hit for Hodges. Yes, Gil had struck out 3 times, but I think you take a chance with Hodges. A home run at that point ties it up. I noticed other players leaving their gloves on the field. Hodges dropped his in foul territory by first base. The bases were big and bulky. The umpires were not in real good position much of the time. Hodges started swinging he bat much better in game 7, too bad it was't best 5 out of 9 in 1955. It was the first time I ever actually saw Preacher Roe pitch, what a piece of work he was.

I also noticed how much Eddie Lopat looked like Whitey Ford. In the 7th Game, you got many opportunities to see the Dodgers' "varsity" jacket. I'm lucky to have one!
