You realize this article is from 1991, right, quoting a living Joe DiMaggio? FBI crackdowns on sports memorabilia and autograph forgeries is literally old news.

While I have you over here etc. -- let me ask you a question.............................
How could Mitchell & Ness lose their license to produce MLB caps, but still have their license to produce jackets and jerseys??

Yes I realize it is an article from 1991, but much of what is written, is still true today. I posted it because the former Brooklyn Dodger batboy, Charley DiGiovanna was mentioned.

Had dinner and drinks tonight with a fellow who's been collecting baseball autographs for over 50 years. He used to mail out cards, etc. to be signed (just like Kramer). He tells me almost NO ONE really signs their requests. Just like the Dodgers had Charlie DiGiovanna, all the players use either a stamp, autopen, or a ghost-signer. Players have admitted to him (Don Zimmer) their wives sign the requests. He told me unless a player is very young and just starting out, none of the autographs are legit.
